So I’m writing it down here.
I just wanted to do a little update on each of the boys, and their personalities and other milestones.
Jack Henry: Oh, this boy has my heart. He is just so sweet. He’s had some big changes happen since I last blogged about him…he now has (count ‘em) 7 teeth through the surface! 3 of them came in a week’s time, and another one was only a week before all of those. It’s changing the look of his face! He’s a tough one…while I think it makes him a bit more clingy during the day, he’s still sleeping great at night and generally isn’t more fussy than normal. Of course, he does wake no later than 6:00 most mornings for the day, which I’d change if I could. He’s still just doing his army crawl, but he can get where he needs to go, and the dirt on the belly of his shirt reminds me that I should be better at cleaning the floors than I am. On Wednesday, he pulled up on his bouncy seat, which, amazingly, he still likes to sit in every once in a while, despite his hugeness. Thursday morning I caught him trying to climb up on the fireplace hearth (which isn’t very high) to get his toys, which I put up there so I could vacuum.
Do you love what he’s wearing? Classy. This must be the baby’s version of a wife-beater and boxer shorts.
Bennett: Where do I start? No significant behavior changes, but something I’ve noticed recently about him is how incredibly protective he is of Luke. If he perceives that one of them has been wronged, he’s defensive…not by hitting (thankfully) but he definitely uses his words. For instance, at the Cardinals game the other night, we saw Fredbird outside before the game, and he was taking pictures with people. The boys got their picture taken, and Fredbird decided to take their hats as a joke. Bennett was laughing and trying to get it back for a little while, but after we got in line to go into the game, he was saying, in a firm voice, “I did not like it when Fredbird took our hats! He should NOT do that again!” This went on for a couple of minutes. Then, as we were leaving, he tucked his hat under his arm, “just in case we see Fredbird again.” However, he still LOVES Fredbird.
Bennett is also keenly aware of every stop sign we pass, and he reminds me that I should stop. Even if the sign is not facing in my direction.
Luke: Like Bennett and the stop signs, Luke is constantly telling me what the speed limit is. Thankfully he can neither see the spedometer or read it.
I’m also discovering how much this kid loves and needs sleep. Seriously, he is ready to drop by about 7:45 every night (not that he doesn’t complain sometimes at bedtime…). When he gets into bed he’s asleep in less than 10 minutes, and in many cases, less than 5. And he gets annoyed with Bennett messing with him (which happens much less than it used to, thank you Jesus). In the morning, he often likes to lay in his bed and just take some time to wake up. At least school doesn’t start until 8:45 next year :)

Have you ever noticed that a large portion of the pictures I post of my Jack are him in a shirt and a diaper. . . sans pants? At least I’m not letting him sit on my lap while I drive . . . hmmm . . . well, not on public roads anyway.
JH: He is an absolute doll! He has a ready smile for nearly everyone that does or says anything in his direction.
And I know you think he is enormous, perhaps compared to your other boys at this age, but he isn’t the hugest little guy we’ve had come through our nursery room. He’s sturdy to be sure but not unusually so.
Luke: I tell ya, he’s headed for a major growth spurt. With the massive food consumption and the love for sleep those seem to be sure indicators.
I’ll be interested to see if that turns out to be right.
I love the picture of the boys and Fredbird! Perfect!
I need to get my hands on that baby of yours!! I don’t see him nearly as much as I saw Luke and Bennett!!
I just love those boys all so much! JH is getting so big now, Bennett constantly cracks me up and makes me smile, and Luke just melts my heart!
Such cute pictures! Love how smiley Jack Henry is. The pic w/ Fredbird is so fun! Thanks for sharing!
Don’t you love how blog have become our new way of recording things that you NEVER want to forget!! I love it, because we all know that an actually baby book isn’t happening in my house (& I’m assuming I’m on the only one out there sans babybook)
