Monday, in Pictures

Here’s a peek into our Monday…

Jack Henry’s first order of business – climb up on the fireplace hearth.

<3.5 hour break, since I didn’t check the camera battery before embarking on this little adventure.  Smart.>

Jack’s up from a nap, and his face looks all smushed, which is so cute. He loves playing with the magnets.

Time for lunch!  On today’s menu: turkey and brick cheese melted in a tortilla and rolled up, apple slices, and pretzel sticks.  And favorite new “Wall-E” cups from “Paige’s mom” aka my friend Karen.

They are as delicious as you’d think they are…I’m sure that the target audience is not 31-year-old mothers, but I found them to be quite yummy.  (Thx to Dierbergs for having a display of these in my face when I walked in the front doors last night.)

Pool time! They spent a couple of hours out here today. Me? Notsomuch, since I was burned so badly yesterday, and my skin was on fire in the sun.  Here’s how nice the pool looked after it was drained at the end of the day…did I mention that the boys played out there for a long time?

Jack Henry’s up from nap #2, and oops!  It looks like he slept with his arm under his overalls button!

He’s so funny when he’s just waking up!

A little drawing in the playroom (Bennett’s trying to show me the pencil from the zoo)

Hey! I actually accomplished something today! Everyone in the house got clean sheets on their beds, AND all of the sheets actually got washed today, too. I had a picture of our washer and dryer that I was going to include here to show you where I spent most of my time (especially since I have to babysit my washing machine, as it gets off-balance really easily and starts dancing across the basement floor), but I thought this was a little more interesting.

Jack Henry eats string cheese for the first time.  I could barely get to my camera (that was 5 feet away) fast enough to get a picture before he inhaled all of it and started crying for more.

Daddy’s home!

Pork chops on the grill for dinner tonight.

We made Oreo milkshakes for dessert tonight.  Michon’s sister Chris gave the boys a big package of snack foods while we were in Effingham last week, and Oreos were in there!  I hadn’t had one in at least a decade.  I suggested that we make shakes, and everyone was excited.  But Bennett decided he didn’t really like it, so Luke, being a good big brother, volunteered to drink his, too.  He didn’t finish either of them, but he looks to already be on a sugar high.

First allowance!  We finally got around to doing this.  Luke has that Money Savvy piggy bank I blogged about a long time ago. We decided to give them a weekly allowance equal to half their age (so $2.50 and $1.50), and it gets divided into spend, save, church, and donate. Bennett’s getting a matching bank, too.

Reading time with Dad!

Last but not least, Bennett’s crazy hair.  He does this himself after every bath or shower.

If I knew I could get a picture of them sleeping without waking them, I would, but it’s not worth it tonight. I’m going to go fold laundry.

  3. Oh my goodness. . . Jack Henry seems to have changed so much in a matter of weeks!

    Great pictures!

  4. Matt’s lost so much weight……..is he giving it to JH? I had to read 3x before I realized that the bag of chips wasnt a pool floaty!

  5. Jack Henry is so photogenic! And, I too, love the pic of Luke drinking both shakes….it reminded me of Andrew offering to finish Kayla’s brownie yesterday since she couldn’t eat it all! Great pictures, thanks for sharing!

  6. I can’t believe how much Jack has changed since the last time I saw him! He is getting so much hair!! So cute!

  7. I will be so sad when JH’s chubbo legs start to thin out!! And Bennett looks so old in that last picture of him with the crazy hair!!

  8. I was going to say the same thing as Andrea! I heart little chubby baby arms and legs and the creases where creases wouldn’t normally be. :) And Bennett in that last pic looks WAY older than 3.

That was a fun idea to document one whole day with the camera.

  9. Oh, I know. His chubby legs are so cute!

Matt and I thought Bennett looked old in that picture, too, and like he had little muscles almost!

  10. Nicole, I have just gotten caught up on your plethera of posts. Fun family stories, but my heart still aches for you with the loss of your mom. You don’t ever have to apologize for being real. Reality is what I like about blogging!

  11. Reminds me: one of the last days you were here, Luke chose Oreos for his snack. I just HAD to have one (OK, two) – hadn’t had an Oreo in forever! I still love them. I’d have eaten more, but then I’d have had to tell you a lie about how a whole roll of them fell out on the floor and broke or something.
