When Luke was born and we had several baby showers, I took the time to write in his baby book the gifts that he had received. I might have even done that for his first birthday, but since then, I’ve kept track on the computer.
I have a folder called “gift lists” in my documents, and then a document for each child with a list of gifts from birth and for each of their birthdays. I think it will be fun someday to look back at the lists and remember what they got from whom on their birthdays. Also, this helps me remember to get thank you cards done in a timely fashion!
For more WFMW, go to We Are THAT Family. She’s talking about gifts this week, too!

Ok, this officially makes you the most organized person I know.
Wow. That’s a great idea. I keep track of what gifts I give other people in a notebook, but I have never considered keeping track of received gifts. I think I’ll add a new section to my notebook!
Great idea! I’m thinking that looking back on the lists and remembering favorite gifts would be a great source of ideas of gifts to buy for others, too!
I agree completely with Jan. You are more organized than I will ever be, although that is a great idea! Might have to do this going forward….if I remember
That IS a really good idea. Very clever indeed.
That is so cool. I have a list of gifts from my baby shower, but at my daughter’s first birthday it got a bit crazy and by the time it was all over I couldn’t even remember who gave her what. Sigh! Maybe I’ll do better at her second birthday.
With 2 kids, I had a crazy good memory for who gave which gifts for what occasion. Now, with 3, I’ve lost the ability. Good idea!
This never occurred to me–very simple–even I could do it.
You are lucky to get so many gifts that you have to make list. It was nice going through it. Keep it up the good work.
