Prayers of a 3-Year-Old Boy

Last night as we prayed before the boys’ bedtime, Jack Henry piped up immediately, as he always does, that he wanted to pray for someone first. (Clearly he hasn’t absorbed all of that stuff Jesus said about the first being last.) And here is his prayer, as best as I can remember.

“I want to pray for my mom. Let her get a good night’s sleep tonight, and let her be a good grown-up. Let her not have so much rules. And please let the Cardinals be good players and not lose so much. Amen.”

Amen! Though I’m not sure which of my many rules was feeling so restrictive last night that it required intercession…
