Just Who Are We?

I’m Nicole.  30-something Wife of 30-something Matt (a banker), stay-at-home mom to Luke (6), Bennett (4) and Jack Henry (2). We are Christians, striving to teach our boys about Jesus and knowing him personally.

And no, we aren’t going to have another to “try for a girl.”  You’ve no idea how many times people have asked that.  I feel so blessed to be the mom of all boys, as God obviously knows what he’s doing since I don’t cope well with drama.  My dream is to someday own a home with a bathroom large enough to turn into a locker room, complete with a urinal.

I’m a graduate of the University of Illinois, with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies, with an emphasis on Early Childhood (it’s kind of an education/psychology mix).  Thus, staying at home with my boys is a natural fit!  Notice I didn’t say “perfect fit;” while I am certain that being home with them is what I was meant to do, our life and parenting is definitely imperfect, and in the spirit of full disclosure, I write about all of it: the good, the bad, the embarrassing, the funny. Since I am not good at keeping up the baby books, and I don’t scrapbook, this has become a journal of sorts about my boys’ childhood.

Because Matt also graduated from the U of I, we share an obsession for all things Illini, going so far as to make our office into an Illini room.  Between the five of us in our family, we own approximately 348 items of Illini gear. We all also love the St. Louis Cardinals, and moving to STL and marrying me cured Matt of his Cub-rooting ways. 

I love getting a good deal on things, which explains my addiction to ebay, garage sales, and kids’ resale shops! Other likes: Riesling, sleeping children, blogging (it turns out I really like to write when it’s not for a school assignment!), cooking, sleeping children…I’ll add to this as I think of things.
