You know I love Compassion International.
To me, the most powerful testimonies for why this program works is to hear from adults who were sponsored as a child, and what it meant to them. I recently read Peninah’s story; it’s so moving. Being involved with Compassion rescued her from a certain horrible future, as [...]

I don’t really feel like rehashing September 11 on the blog today…I did this post last year with my recollection of the day.
Instead, I’d like to ask you to pray for this family, the Nevils. Jeremy enlisted in the Army 3 years ago, and 2 months ago, he was deployed to Afghanistan (his unit was [...]

Well, it didn’t take long. Today, Luke forgot to bring his lunch to school! It was packed and ready to go, and in his excitement to get on the bus, he left it near the door. I left immediately after he did with the two other boys to take Bennett to preschool [...]

I’m worn out today and just plain busy…Jack Henry got new tubes in his ears this morning (he’s doing great…no lingering side effects of the anesthesia or anything), I grocery shopped again this afternoon because I could without any kids (Nana Jo was here!) and we can now eat out of the cupboards and freezers [...]

I used to call myself a Republican. Now I think I’ll just stick with “conservative” since that seems a better descriptor, lest someone think by “Republican” I mean “hypocritical, unfaithful spouse.”
Seriously, Republicans, can you please, please stop letting me down with all your righteous talk and subsequent infidelity? It’s getting embarrassing.

Yesterday, our church did a major community-volunteer day, and we decided that we’d participate as a family. They had several family-friendly options, and we chose to do clean-up at a local park…it turned out to be a park that we go to often, so that was cool!
What was NOT cool was the fact that [...]

You may have noticed that I’ve been really quiet about politics lately…frankly, I’m so totally beyond fed up with what’s going on in Washington (and the media – don’t even get me started on Obama’s Special Olympics “joke”) that I haven’t the energy to write about it.
More Americans have started to embrace the [...]

Sorry to be so music-heavy the last few days, but I’ve got another new favorite song (courtesy of my favorite show, “The Biggest Loser” – I’m totally rooting for Mike to win!) that I have to share with you!
The artist’s name is Francesca Battistelli, and if you listen to contemporary Christian music at all, you’ve [...]

I returned last night from my first Hearts at Home national conference…and it was amazing. For those of you who aren’t familiar with this group, it’s a Christian organization that exists solely to encourage moms, through conferences, books, blogs, etc. It was founded by Jill Savage, a mom of 5 and wife of [...]
