You Know You’re Getting Old When…

…you’re playing Memory with your four-year-old and:

1. You are working really, really hard to stay awake. After all, it’s 1pm, you’ve had lunch, and naptime sounds like a great idea. But only to you. Never to the 4-year-old who has sworn off ever napping again.

2. Your 4-year-old is effortlessly making matches, while you struggle to remember what you’ve already turned over (remember, you’re splitting your efforts between remembering cards and keeping your eyelids open).

3. At the end of the game, your back hurts and your knees crack when you get up off the floor. You suggest playing this game at the table next time, which is met by an “ugh, Mom, NO!” response.

What’s crazy is I feel like it was not that long ago that I was the 4 year old in this scenario!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

  1. Hilarious! Just played memory with Will last week and was shocked by the level of concentration needed…by ME!

  2. Yep. I’ve been there.

  3. And, I feel like the other 4 year old that was playing with you not all that long ago 🙂
