Every night at bedtime, when we say prayers together, the kids take turns praying for someone. Often, at least one of them is praying for some of their cousins, and when it’s for Will and Ava, the prayer is generally something like:
“Please let Will and Ava have a good night’s sleep tonight. Let them be good for their mom and dad, let Will do a good job with his breathing treatments, let him not pick up Ava, and let Ava be a good eater and drinker and gain some weight*.”
Tonight, Will and Ava are spending the night with us, giving their mom and dad a night out on the town.
Ava is asleep in the pack-n-play in our spare bedroom; Will is camped out on Jack Henry’s floor.
I prayed with Jack Henry and Will before I left their room tonight, and JH’s prayer was this:
“Let Will and Ava have a good night’s sleep tonight. Especially Will, since he’s right here on the floor next to my bed.”
Now there’s an unselfish request…
